Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris made a statement following the BAFTA ceremony, celebrating the success of Irish artists.

Expressing his pride in the global success of Ireland’s arts community, Harris said, “History has been made! Jessie has won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress, a first for Ireland! I congratulate her on this truly extraordinary achievement.”

Referring to another Irish actor nominated at the same ceremony, Paul Mescal, Harris concluded his statement by saying, “I also extend my best wishes to Paul Mescal, but yet another nomination is proof of how Irish talent continues to light up screens worldwide.”
