Jetten: Keeping the Netherlands safe is one of the government’s most important tasks
Amsterdam, August 28 (Hibya) - Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten said that ensuring the country’s security is one of the government’s most important tasks and announced that a new legal regulation is being prepared to enable intelligence and security services to carry out their duties more effectively.
Jetten said threat levels were unprecedentedly high and announced that the Act on the Protection of National Security, which will provide new capabilities to intelligence and security services, would be introduced.
In his opening remarks at the weekly press conference held after the Council of Ministers meeting, Jetten said, “One of the most important tasks of this government is to keep the Netherlands safe. At a time when threats are at an unprecedentedly high level, this is a serious responsibility.”
Providing information about the new regulation, Jetten said, “We are now introducing a new law to provide the services with the capabilities they need.” Jetten stated that the regulation aims to ensure that intelligence and security services can perform their duties in the best possible way.
