Lahbib: The EU stands with Nepal
Brussels, August 28 (Hibya) - European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib said search and support operations in Nepal were continuing and announced that a 2 million euro emergency aid package had been provided to the region.
Commenting on the humanitarian situation in Nepal, European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib emphasized the EU’s support, saying that food and health assistance as well as satellite monitoring were being deployed in areas affected by the disaster.
Highlighting the continuation of field and search operations, Lahbib said, “As people in Nepal continue searching for their loved ones, we are also taking action.”
Referring to the allocated budget and basic needs, Lahbib said, “The EU is providing 2 million euros in emergency aid for food, health services, clean water and sanitation.”
Describing the technical and logistical support on the ground, Lahbib said, “Our partners are on the ground. Copernicus is also mapping the affected areas.”
Lahbib concluded her statement by saying, “The EU stands with Nepal.”
