Prevot: Belgium fully supports Zelensky’s announcement of an indefinite ceasefire
Brussels, May 5 (Hibya) - Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxime Prevot stated that they support the indefinite ceasefire announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxime Prevot made a statement regarding the ceasefire initiative announced by Ukraine and the latest developments on the ground.
Comparing the ceasefire proposals, Prevot said: “Belgium fully supports President Zelensky’s announcement of an indefinite ceasefire starting tonight. Ukraine is choosing peace not for two days for a parade, but as a genuine offer to stop the killing.”
Prevot added: “The contrast is clear. The ceasefire proposed by Russia for May 8–9 is limited to two days to mark its own military celebrations and includes the threat of a major missile attack on Kyiv if it is violated.”
Drawing attention to the ongoing attacks, Minister Prevot stated: “On the day of this announcement, Russian attacks killed seven civilians in Merefa near Kharkiv. A ceasefire accompanied by a threat to bomb the capital is a public relations exercise.”
