Sanchez: The EU cannot remain silent against this oppression, steps regarding Gaza must be protected
Madrid, May 6 (Hibya) - Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated that the European Union should activate the “Blocking Statute” against pressures targeting defenders of international justice and called for the protection of international initiatives related to the situation in Gaza.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated that punishing those who defend international justice puts the global human rights system at risk.
Emphasizing that the European Union should not remain silent in the face of these developments, Sanchez called on the European Commission to activate the “Blocking Statute”.
Sanchez stated that this step aims to protect the independence of the International Criminal Court and the United Nations and to safeguard international initiatives regarding the conflicts in Gaza.
