President Erdoğan: The massacre in Gaza continues with full force
New York, September 22 (Hibya) – President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the High-Level International Conference on Finding a Solution to the Palestinian Question and Implementing the Two-State Solution.
President Erdoğan delivered remarks at the High-Level International Conference on Finding a Solution to the Palestinian Question and Implementing the Two-State Solution, held within the framework of the 80th UN General Assembly.
Key points from his speech:
"I congratulate the countries that have decided to recognize the State of Palestine. I hope this step and subsequent initiatives will accelerate the two-state solution.
For nearly two years, due to the escalating attacks by the Israeli government, our region has been facing a major humanitarian catastrophe. The massacre in Gaza, which has claimed the lives of more than 65,000 people, continues with full severity. No one with a conscience can accept what is happening, let alone remain silent in the face of such genocide. The Palestinian cause has now become a global cause.
The aim of the Netanyahu government is to make the establishment of the State of Palestine impossible and to force the Palestinian people to migrate as much as possible. Amid these negative developments, the decision by a group of countries— including UN Security Council members— to recognize the State of Palestine is extremely significant and historic.
We would have wished for President Abbas of Palestine to be with us today. Nevertheless, I greatly value that all today’s speakers are also the voice of the Palestinian people. Today, the Palestinian cause has become global, and the participation in this hall is the best proof of that.
The Netanyahu government, which governs a people once targeted for eradication in the Holocaust, is committing genocide against its millennia-old neighbors with whom it shares the same land, water, air, and sea. Standing against this injustice is not only a legal duty of the international community but also a moral responsibility.
The international community must stop expansion in the West Bank, faits accomplis in East Jerusalem, and attempts to spread instability in the region. Otherwise, there can be no talk of an international order or the defense of universal values.
The goal of the deepening policies of occupation and annexation is clear: to kill the vision of a two-state solution, leave no ground for a viable Palestinian state, exile the Palestinian people, and realize expansionist ambitions in the region. This must never be allowed.
I hope the countries that had the courage to recognize Palestine will back this historic stance with determined, concrete, and deterrent steps.
A ceasefire must now be declared, unhindered entry of aid into Gaza ensured, and Israeli forces withdrawn from Gaza."
