UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Türk calls for prioritizing human rights
New York, October 7 (Hibya) – United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk highlighted the decisive role of human rights in achieving sustainable development goals.
Türk emphasized that human rights are the “golden thread” connecting the entirety of the 2030 Agenda, adding, “They are both the inspiration and the destination of these goals.”
Calling on all governments, Türk said: “I urge governments to prioritize human rights while advancing sustainable, peaceful, and inclusive development. Human rights are our greatest chance to achieve the goals within the remaining time.”
