Zelensky meets OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Sampietro
Kyiv, October 7 (Hibya) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Pere Juan Pons Sampietro, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
The meeting addressed the return of Ukrainian children abducted and illegally deported by Russia.
Zelensky proposed appointing a special representative to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to focus on the return of Ukrainian children. He also announced that a UN General Assembly resolution condemning the abduction and deportation of Ukrainian children is being prepared and called on the OSCE PA President to support it.
Pere Juan Pons Sampietro noted that the Assembly would join the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
The meeting also discussed joint efforts to release prisoners of war and civilians illegally held by Russia.
Emphasizing the importance of maintaining pressure on Russia, Sampietro said: “We have over 300 parliamentarians and more than 55 parliaments, and you have one voice — one united voice. This voice, of course, is not about bombs or military materials, but we can support political and economic sanctions and, of course, military assistance.”
